Alex Club Championship Game 02/11/18 French Defence Classical Steinitz Variation

My club championship game against Paul Sneesby last night (02/11/2018). I played black and faced 1. d4. After e6, which surprises some white d4 players, he played e4 and we had a french – which i am happy playing.

I missed a tactic on move 11. Instead of Qb4, I should play Ndxe5, and if fxe, then Qh5+ double attacking the Knight on d4, therefore winning a pawn.

Comments/ideas/mistakes etc would be good.

4th Annual Lowestoft Rapidplay Tournament

Lowestoft chess club will be holding its 4th annual rapidplay tournament on Sunday 18th November 2018 at Parkhill Hotel.
There will be two sections – open and under 150.
All the details are on the attached form and all the usual rules apply.
Last year we had 35 players from all over the country and I am hoping to beat that this year. Please be aware the event is limited to 40 players due to space constraints.

Christmas Rapidplay Event

We will have a club Christmas event next Friday (16th) at the Morley Club. We will divide up into two about equal teams, and then play a double round rapidplay match, so that everyone will play two games against different opponents of about the same strength. We will start at about 8pm and finish shortly after 9pm.

Please let me know if you can (or can’t) attend and that will help for sorting out the teams in advance.
